Women's Basketball Cruises Past Lincoln Christian For Third Straight Win

CHICAGO – Emily Duckhorn scored 19 points off the bench to lead all scorers, and the Roosevelt women's basketball team cruised to a 74-45 win over visiting Lincoln Christian (Ill.) at the Goodman Center on Wednesday.

Lindzy Cox had a splendid all-around game with 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Jasmine Albert added 10 points and seven boards for the Lakers (7-4), who won their third straight game.

Roosevelt shot 50 percent for the game and held the Red Lions (1-6) to just 25 percent shooting from the floor in a balanced team effort.

The Lakers caused 22 turnovers by the guests, scoring 25 points off those takeaways, and outscored Lincoln Christian in the paint by 26 points despite getting outrebounded by two.

Duckhorn's 19 points led a 35-point output by Roosevelt's bench.

"Great overall team effort tonight," said Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell. "We shared the ball really well and shot it well from the field, too. The bench gave us 35 points and that was really big for us.

"We have a quick turnaround with a tough conference opponent coming in Saturday," Newell said. "We will need a similar team effort Saturday against Cardinal Stritch."

Roosevelt returns to CCAC play this Saturday with a home game against 22nd-ranked Cardinal Stritch at 1 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
