Garcia's Two Goals Get Men's Soccer Road Win At Holy Cross, CCAC Tourney Home Game

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Jose Garcia scored his second goal of the game with three minutes remaining in regulation, breaking a 1-1 deadlock and lifting the Roosevelt men's soccer team to a 2-1 road win at Holy Cross (Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon.

The victory clinched a third-place CCAC finish for the Lakers (9-8-0, 8-3-0 CCAC), who will host a CCAC Tournament match at Toyota Park at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 4.

In a makeup of the Oct. 14 matchup that was washed out by thunderstorms and lightning, Garcia opened the scoring with a strike in the 48th minute off a ball from Lucas Garcia Bennett.

The Saints (6-8-3, 2-6-3 CCAC) leveled in the 81st minute on Alassane Diop's equalizer, but that draw did not last long thanks to Roosevelt's senior expert in clutch.

Garcia gathered a ball from Miguel Rodriguez and knocked it into the net in the 87th minute, giving the Lakers the go-ahead goal on the Wheeling native's 11th goal of the season and 12th career game-winning goal.
