Volleyball Concludes First 2016 CCAC Crossover At ONU

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt volleyball team had a comeback victory, a tough five-set loss and a sweep decision out of its favor all in a span of 24 hours this weekend at the CCAC Crossover hosted by Olivet Nazarene at McHie Arena on Friday and Saturday.

The Lakers dropped their first set of the weekend to Governors State before rallying back for a 20-25, 25-16, 25-29, 25-22 victory to open the crossover.

Roosevelt then traded sets with Indiana South Bend to go to a fifth and decisive frame, and the Titans were able to narrowly escape with the decision in an exciting and competitive 27-25, 15-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-13 bout.

The weekend concluded against host Olivet Nazarene, and one of the league's top teams took down the Lakers in a 25-9, 25-22, 25-14 result.

Roosevelt's record for the fall is now 10-12 overall and 4-5 in CCAC play.

Brooke Lee had 20 kills in the opener and 21 in the IUSB contest.

Natalie Sanders registered a pair of 40-plus assist performances, including 48 helpers against the Titans.

Roosevelt had four with double-digit digs, led by Madison Dunbar's second straight double-digit showing as she posted 14 against GSU and 16 against Indiana South Bend.

The Lakers had a couple of hot-hitting sets, with a .545 attack percentage in the final frame against the Jaguars and a .522 clip in the second set against IUSB.

Roosevelt returns home this Tuesday to host Cardinal Stritch at 7 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
