Volleyball Competes At CCAC Crossover Hosted By Judson

ELGIN, Ill. – The Roosevelt volleyball team rounded out CCAC Crossover play for 2016 with four matches hosted by Judson this weekend.

The Lakers started the weekend with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-11 sweep of Calumet St. Joseph before falling to Trinity Christian in three, 25-16, 25-21, 25-19, on Friday.

Roosevelt then engaged in a back-and-forth battle with Purdue Northwest to start Saturday play, with the Lakers taking a 2-1 lead in sets before seeing the Pride take the final two frames for a 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 15-10 decision.

The Lakers then fell in three to St. Francis (Ill.), 25-13, 25-19, 25-21, to conclude the event.

Roosevelt is now 15-18 overall and 7-10 in CCAC play heading into the final week of conference action.

Brooke Lee led the Lakers all weekend with 3.29 kills per set, 46 total kills and 30 kills on Saturday alone.

Abby Petroelje and Maddy Cysewski each registered a pair of double-digit kill performance.

Sara Schultz handed out 95 assists during the weekend, averaging 8.64 per stanza, while Madison Dunbar registered 54 digs followed by 30 from Lee.

Katie Tozer led the stonewalling efforts at the net with 10 total blocks. Cysewski had nine and Chelsey Crippen posted eight.

Roosevelt concludes the regular season with a pair of road bouts this week, beginning with a Tuesday clash against Trinity International in Deerfield.
