CHICAGO – Another two-goal effort by Roosevelt University sophomore midfielder Jose Garcia (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) garnered the second-year star Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 20, the league announced on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Garcia scored two goals and assisted on another in the Lakers' 4-1 win over St. Ambrose in the CCAC opener for both teams on Sept. 19 at Toyota Park.
He started the scoring by bending in a beautiful free kick for a seventh-minute strike, and he ended the offense for the day with a second-half goal to sandwich an assist on an Evan Trychta tally late in the first period.
The 2014 CCAC Freshman of the Year has two five-point efforts through seven matches this year, with both performances anchored by a pair of goals.
Garcia has four goals and three assists thus far to lead Roosevelt.
The honor is the first career CCAC Player of the Week award for Garcia and the first for a Laker this season.
