CHICAGO – Three days after the Roosevelt men's soccer team clinched its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and punched its inaugural ticket to the NAIA National Championship tournament, the Lakers achieved another huge first by making the program's debut in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The Lakers (12-3-2, 10-0-1 CCAC) made the first entrance of a modern Roosevelt men's athletic team into an NAIA Top 25 Poll by checking in at No. 25 in the sixth edition of the 2015 rankings after weeks of increasing vote totals.
The Green and White, rated No. 25 in the latest NAIA Modified RPI, finally knocked down the door into the Top 25 after winning a 2-0 result at Judson this past Saturday to clinch the outright CCAC title, the conference tournament's top seed, and the automatic berth into national postseason play.
Roosevelt has not lost since Sept. 11, which was followed by a span of 12 matches in which the Lakers have gone 11-0-1. The Lakers have not lost in their last seven contests and have allowed just two goals in their last six bouts.
The Lakers play their first match as a nationally-ranked side when they close out the regular season this Wednesday, Oct. 28 against Cardinal Stritch at 3:30 p.m. at Toyota Park.
