Beck's Dominant Double-Double Helps Women's Basketball Cruise Past Marygrove, 88-53

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sara Beck scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double, and the Roosevelt women's basketball team cruised to an 88-53 victory over Marygrove to open the Davenport Holiday Classic at the DU Student Center on Monday night.

Beck was one of five Lakers to finish with double-digit scoring and one of three Green and White players to pull down double-figure rebounds in a no-doubt decision for Roosevelt (6-9).

Jasmine Kyler joined Beck in the double-double department with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Paige Gallimore scored 14, Becky Williford tallied 12 and Lauren Brower chipped in 10.

Kelley McInerney fell two points short of a double-double after posting eight points to go with her 10 boards.

Beck was the story, as the sophomore center came off the bench to overmatch the Mustangs (2-12) with her interior dominance. She scored on 12 of 26 attempts from the floor to nearly double her previous career best in just 27 minutes.

The Lakers never trailed and constructed a double-digit advantage less than halfway into the opening period, going up 21 in the first half and leading by as many as 38 in the final stanza.

The Green and White forced Marygrove to shoot just 28 percent and miss nearly 50 shots. The Mustangs missed 28 times from downtown.

Roosevelt faces second-ranked Davenport in the finale of the Holiday Classic at the Panthers' DU Student Center on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. Central.
