Volleyball Goes 1-1 On Final Day Of CCAC Crossover At ONU

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - The Roosevelt volleyball team swept Purdue Calumet and took host Olivet Nazarene to the limit in a narrow five-set defeat to split on the final day of the CCAC Crossover at McHie Arena on Saturday.

Roosevelt moved to 15-7 overall and 5-4 in CCAC play.

Vanessa Owusu had 30 kills in two matches, including a match-high 16 in just three set against Purdue Calumet (5-11, 1-8 CCAC).

In the day's opener against ONU (14-11, 8-1 CCAC), the Tigers took the first two sets before Roosevelt roared back to take the next two and force a deciding fifth set on Olivet's home court. But the Tigers broke a 5-5 tie and built a lead good enough to get them to a winning 15 that halted the Lakers' comeback attempt.

Roosevelt left no doubt in the finale against the Peregrines, winning the first two sets by 12 before holding off Purdue Cal by three to win in a sweep.

Arielle Nausieda continued to pace the Lakers defensively with 39 digs on the day.

Roosevelt returns to the Goodman Center this Tuesday, Oct. 8 to host IIT at 7 p.m.
