Volleyball Takes Three Of Four At Crimson Wave Invitational

WHITING, Ind. - The Roosevelt volleyball team picked up three victories and nearly made it a perfect 4-for-4 on the weekend at the Crimson Wave Invitational hosted by Calumet College of St. Joseph at the Rittenmeyer Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday.

The Lakers improved to 21-8, with back-to-back 20-win seasons officially to the third-year program's credit.

Roosevelt began the invitational with a pair of wins on Friday, defeating Lincoln Christian in four, 25-10, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, before sweeping Aquinas with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-17 decision.

The Lakers won for the third straight time at the invitational and seventh straight match overall with another sweep, this time taking out Cincinnati Christian with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-8 result.

Roosevelt's winning streak then came to a conclusion against Northwestern Ohio in a close five-set contest, 25-21, 17-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9, in the invitational's finale for the Green and White.

Junior Valerie Cutrone was named to the All-Invitational Team with four double-digit kill performances.

Roosevelt hosts Trinity International at the Goodman Center this Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
