Chicago, Ill. - Tonight, the Roosevelt University men's basketball game will travel across town to meet East-West University. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the J.L. Community Center.
On Nov. 10, the Lakers picked up their first win of the season with an 84-83 overtime victory over the Phantoms. Junior
Paul Tometich scored the game-winning basket with 11 seconds left in the first overtime period and finished with 24 points. His twin brother
Mark Tometich also finished with 23 points.
Center Derrick Reaves paced the Phantoms with 23 points and eight rebounds. Forward Michael Skinner also chipped in 20 points.
In their last game, the Lakers faced off against #1 Robert Morris the Keating Sports Center. The Eagles Reggie Bunch and Kenny Ogbuokiri combined for 30 points and ultimately proved too much for the home team. However, in the defeat, junior
Tyler Smith set a new career high with 16 points.
Roosevelt University has revived intercollegiate men's basketball for the first time in over 20 years.
Joe Griffin was named Head Men's Basketball Coach on Aug. 17, 2009 after coaching stints at Michigan State University and Eastern New Mexico University. The Lakers are members of the CCAC and NAIA Division I.
