Chicago, Ill. - Casey Davis led five players in double figures as the Roosevelt women's basketball team rolled to a 91-75 victory over Aquinas College on Tuesday in the second round of the 2010 Saint Xavier Holiday Tournament at the Shannon Center.
With the win, the Lakers (9-5) advance to Wednesday's fifth-place game where they will take on Calumet College of St. Joseph at 3:00 p.m. The Saints fall to 5-9 on the season with the loss.
Davis, who was held in check offensively in the tournament opener, poured in a game-high 26 points against Aquinas on 10-of-18 shooting. She also added six rebounds. Junior Peggie Parhas continued her stellar play with 17 points and a career-high seven assists, while freshman Maria Tamburrino tabbed her fourth double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Tori Clark (14 points) and Erin McCaslin (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Lakers.
Taelor Sanders paced the Saints with 18 points.
Aquinas owned a 39-34 lead with 3:32 left in the opening half when Roosevelt began to find its rhythm. The Lakers closed the half on a 13-2 run to take a 47-41 lead into intermission. Roosevelt then opened the second period with a 13-3 surge to build a 16-point cushion. The Saints would get no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
