DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Roosevelt's dance team took home third place Friday in team performance at the National Dance Alliance Championships held this past weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Lakers' first foray into Division II competition started off strong Thursday when they qualified for the final with a second-place showing in the preliminary round. Roosevelt scored 64.84 in its first dance with a strong 8.40 out of 10 in performance impression and 7.84 in jazz execution.
In Friday's final, Roosevelt scored nearly a full point better on their routine with its biggest improvements coming in pom execution and choreography. However, Texas A&M International clipped the Lakers for second place by .18 points and both were nearly two points shy of champion Oklahoma Baptist.
Roosevelt also entered a performance in hip-hop after taking home the national championship at the NAIA level in 2025. However, the Lakers finished in seventh place in Friday's preliminary round to miss the cutoff for the final. Â
